Thousands of BGP Cisco Routers Fail in Japan
According to a Network World article dated May 16, 2007, between 2,000
and 4,000 Cisco routers went down for approximately 7 hours in the
NTT East Network in Japan. This disconnected millions of Internet users
across most of eastern Japan. The article explains that "...a switchover
to backup routers triggered the routers to rewrite routing tables," showing
